VINO

Vernacular Inspired Nature Oriented
Wine and Intertwined Culture

VINO is a concept for the renovation of Podere Fedespina that fuses wine, landscape, and culture into one immersive agritourism experience. Anchored by a winding “wine path,” the project connects vineyards, forests, and architecture, inviting visitors to engage with winemaking, art, food, and community. Drawing from vernacular forms and sustainable strategies, the design celebrates local heritage while strengthening the bond between people and the land.

Volumes

The volumes not only ensure the essential protection for the winemaking process but also create the perfect ambiance for savouring Fedespina wines.

The Process of making Wine

From the vineyard to the bottle, every necessary space is thoughtfully designed to craft the perfect wine and enhance its significance.

The Wine Path

A journey where the rich history of Podere Fedespina, the meticulous winemaking process, and the ultimate enjoyment of the wine are harmoniously orchestrated through the landscape.

The beginning of the journey through the vineyards of Podere Fedispina starts by understanding it’s history.

The Vineyard

What makes a good wine, is a good grape. What makes a good grape is the vineyard, it’s geographical location, the climate and the soil it grows from.

The Grape Pressing

Picking the right grape at the right time is crucial. Pressing the grapes under the right circumstances is a great experience.

Patience is a virtue. Before we can enjoy the wine, we need the microorganisms to enjoy their portion of it first.

THE Wine cellar

Each harvest, each fermentation is unique. And to let each wine age until perfection needs a unique location.

THE Wine Experience

With great wine, goes great experiences. Experiences we share with people through music, poetry, art and joy.

The Dine Experience

And inherently to Italian culture, a perfect wine must be paired with amazing food. And great food must be paired with the best wine.

The Wine level

Below ground, the wine cellar and fermentation spaces immerse visitors in the heart of the winemaking process. Cave-like volumes, the gentle sound of water, and rows of aging barrels create a sensory, contemplative atmosphere. The design invites exploration and engagement. Tasting, learning, and connecting with the craf, while subtly showcasing sustainable practices like water reuse and biomass composting, grounding the experience in both tradition and environmental care.

The experience level

This level serves as the central stage of Podere Fedespina, where the wine path guides visitors through a rich, sensory journey. Spaces flow seamlessly between tasting areas, creative corners, and communal gathering zones, all oriented to frame the vineyard and valley beyond. Light-filled interiors, generous openings, and flexible layouts allow for intimate experiences and shared moments alike, from painting in the fermentation room to savoring local products, creating a harmonious connection between wine, nature, and community.

cut through the building

This section reveals the building’s integration with both landscape and sustainable systems. Thick limestone masonry walls act as natural thermal buffers, while carefully positioned openings and a central chimney promote cross-ventilation and daylight throughout the interiors. The green roof and roof garden retain rainwater, host native wildflowers, provide habitat for pollinators, and support vegetables and herbs. Below, the underground wine cellar is shielded from light and heat, with an integrated water basin regulating climate for optimal storage. Surrounding the building, a productive vineyard, supported by vegetable gardens, composting systems, and coops for chickens, geese, and sheep. Feed into bio-waste gas production, creating a closed-loop, environmentally conscious system that connects architecture, agriculture, and ecology.

cut through the hill

This section highlights how the building flows with the natural contours of the landscape, positioning each volume to enhance views rather than block them. Every space is oriented toward a distinct focal point: vineyards, forest edges, or the valley, creating a sequence of framed panoramas as visitors move through the winery. The stepped volumes and subtle height differences ensure a harmonious dialogue with the terrain, allowing the architecture to nestle into the land while offering continually changing perspectives and intimate connections to the surrounding nature.

Podere Fedispina: Competition Finalist

We are thrilled to announce that our proposal for Podere Fedispina has been selected as a finalist in the Cultural Winery. Our concept reimagines the winery as an immersive journey where landscape, architecture, and culture come together to celebrate wine, community, and sustainability. Being recognized among such inspiring entries is a testament to our team’s vision of creating spaces that connect people with nature, heritage, and each other.
